NaPoWriMo 2014 – Day 12

Its gloomy outside with a wind and overcast skies and a temperature of -2 Celsius (28 F.), and I have come down with a cold. Or perhaps, it is a return to seasonal allergies. It isn’t as comfortable as I like in the house either even though I have set the central heating to be two degrees higher than normal, especially since I spend as much time as I can without clothing at home. It is what it is and I have to deal with it and move on, move forward as positively engaged in being present as I can.

Slight Shivers Among The Shadows

Goose bumps transform the skin’s surface
into a landscape that is pocked and patterned
with hills and craters like the surface of the moon.

A lingering gray in the skies cast a pall
over the spirit hidden somewhere as though
protecting itself from cold and dark presences.

Hidden within shivering skin, behind flesh
the soul is a reminder of something eternal
that is untouched by elements, reminding the body
that it is a temple for the inner light
that can never be overcome by cold and darkness.
