Bare Barbed Wire on the Naked Prairie

Bare Barbed Wire

Barbed wire
Stands on guard
Keeping out
Keeping in
Always a boundary
Made painfully aware

Barbed wire
Easily lifted or held down
Allowing passage for
Those who dare
A bigger vision
Beyond boundaries

Crossing the line
Ignoring the thin wire and barbs
Ignoring boundaries
Fortified boundaries
Fortified by fear

Crossing the line
Into the naked prairie
Choosing freedom
Learning that by crossing back
One never really returns
